Enterprise Architect Practice Lead

The organization is currently recruiting an Architecture Practice Manager to take responsibility for taking the architecture practice to the next level.  You will work with Program Management and Technology Management to ensure the overall program architecture is defined and delivered to the business within an enterprise framework. You will ensure solution architects on the program deliver within the overall program architecture. This role is expected drive change and foster innovated approaches while making a positive organizational impact. The successful candidates will be expected to bring their own ideas to the table.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Lead the development of the architecture practice;
  • Develop processes and procedures required for the efficient operation of an architecture practice including delivery and governance;
  • Delivery of the end-to-end program architecture;
  • Guide and inform individual solution architectures;
  • Lead the capability uplift plans across the group including training, tooling and frameworks;
  • Define and manage architecture governance and metrics for the program; and
  • Implement architecture status reporting across the group.

Selection criteria will include:

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a large corporate environment;
  • Strong organizational capability and extensive experience with solution architecture and enterprise architecture;
  • Demonstrated experience in a complex IT environment, including the delivery and implementation of organizational change in a technology group;
  • Strong evidence of understanding of the required business and technologies capabilities;
  • Demonstrated awareness of the issues including business and technology challenges;
  • Hands-on experience with architecture maturity models familiarity with leading architecture frameworks including hands-on implementation;
  • Strong organizational capability and extensive experience with solution architecture and enterprise architecture;
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to liaise and negotiate at all management levels;
  • A high level of planning, process, conceptual and analytical skills, including an ability to mediate and broker acceptable architectural outcomes at an executive level as well as a detailed level; and
  • A high level of planning, process, conceptual and analytical skills, including an ability to mediate and broker discussion; and
  • Government or large corporate experience mandatory.

  • Performed as a Lead Architect in at least two major solutions or a large scale organization transformation program.
  • Experience in the development and management of Enterprise Architecture utilizing one or more of the following EA frameworks: FEAF, DoDAF, TOGAF or Zachman;
  • Enterprise transformation experience in Business, Performance, Services, Data and Technology Architecture development and management using FEA guidance
  • Experience Segment Architecture development and management using FEA guidance;
  • Understand the relationships between Enterprise Architecture, enterprise governance, and program reviews;
  • Experience in Enterprise Business Strategy development with a background in one or more of the following disciplines: organizational development, statistical analysis, quantitative analysis, operations research, software systems development, and design;
  • Experienced with Relational/Process Modeling (UML) and Business Process Modeling (BPM) utilizing Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and associated tools (iGrafix is preferred);
  • Experienced with Requirements Gathering, documentation and Analysis
  • Knowledge and practical experience in full systems development life cycle (SDLC) and methodologies, ITIL, ITSM, CoBIT;
  • Knowledge and experience with EA Modeling tools, Troux, Popkin, Metastorm, Mega etc.; and
  • Knowledge and experience with reporting engines: Cognos, Business Objects, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE)
